Here is a partial list of my bills which were signed into law:
Tighten Massage Therapy Licensing Requirements to Deter Sex Crimes (including sex trafficking). This bill revised massage therapy licensing to increase criminal background checks and to deter sex trafficking and other sexual crimes.
Mandatory Jail for Human Sex Trafficking of Minors. I was shocked to learn from
our local District Attorney’s office that Colorado did not mandate jail time for the
crime of human sex trafficking of minors. My bill requires mandatory jail time.
Consolidate Child Sexual Assault Charges in One Trial. Authorizes the district attorney to combine the charges of sex assault on a child from multiple jurisdictions into one jurisdiction – so that the child victim does not have to go through numerous separate criminal trials.
“Truckers Against Trafficking.” This bill modifies commercial drivers’ license training
to include information on reporting human trafficking crimes. A Colorado truckers
organization asked me to run this bill.
Training to Detect and Deter Human Trafficking. Support training to law enforcement and victim assistance groups, on prevention, detection/reporting of human sex trafficking. Require the state School Safety Center to provide information to local schools to detect and deter human trafficking recruitment in schools.
Strengthen Local Enforcement Against Human Trafficking. Authorizes county governments to take enforcement actions to deter, shut down, and more effectively prosecute human sex trafficking in illicit massage parlor facilities.
