Republican Terri Carver for Senate District 9

"Government should not tell us what to do, what to think and what to believe" has been my guiding principle since before I first ran for office and it continues to guide me today. See what I've done to limit government
Regulatory Reform: I ran several bills for comprehensive Regulatory reform to reduce government regulations, especially on businesses which are being driven out of Colorado by excessive regulations. Killed in committee.
Occupational Licensing Reform:
My bill for a comprehensive review of occupational licensing requirements, and to eliminate excessive requirements. Killed in committee
Opposed additional burdens on business
I consistently voted against all bills putting additional burdens on businesses, working closely with local Chambers of Commerce.
Opposed "climate change" bills.
I consistently voted against all “climate change” bills that increased our utility rates, working closely with Colorado Springs Utilities.
Lemonade Stand Bill
I ran a bill to stop local jurisdictions from shutting down minors who were operating businesses (lawn care, shoveling snow, the classic lemonade stand, etc.). This bill was in response to an actual case in Denver where police shut down a kids’ lemonade stand because they did not have a permit. Signed into law.
